Stitch Fix and the Stitch Store

Stitch Fix uses a mix of big data and human stylists to send its customers clothing that matches their preferences. The company gathers lots of information about a customer’s likes and dislikes through a style quiz and other tools.

Natural language processing, which is an important part of artificial intelligence, also helps with interpreting the feedback from customers. This rich data informs new product development and merchandising strategies.
Cross Stitch and Needlework Supplies

The Stitch store is a one stop needlework shop with patterns, threads, kits and other supplies for cross stitch, needlepoint, punchneedle, silk ribbon embroidery, beading and temari balls. It is also the home to a full service framing department that can block, mount and frame your finished projects.

If you’re looking for a souvenir, try the classic Stitch plush toy with detailed plush sculpting and embroidered features. It’s a favorite among fans of the extraterrestrial.

Other supplies that can help you with your stitching include a Cross Stitch Key by It’s Sew Emma that has four functions including a Reference Guide to find floss count and fabric size, a Cloth Counter to figure out your fabric, a Ruler for general measurement and a Corner Guide for determining placement.

This handy tool holds up to 12 pre-threaded needles and is easily stored in a padded cover with magnet across the bottom. Also available is a brass needlework tack remover that is convenient and safe to use on delicate fabrics.

While cross stitching might conjure up images of granny sitting in her chair, twitching her fingers and stitching up a masterpiece (and I’m not saying they weren’t right) it is becoming increasingly popular, and a lot more fun. It takes time, patience, and maybe a few pricked fingers but once you’ve got your finished piece you want to show it off.

Embroidery hoops are the first frames any stitcher gets but they have a few draw backs; they’re heavy, you can’t hold your aida in them when not working on it and they don’t accommodate larger stitches very well. Scroll frames solve all of these problems and are the go to frame for anyone moving on from a hoop.

Another alternative is a bar frame; these come in sets of 4 to 6 inch bars that clip together so you can expand them to accommodate your stitching, and they’re also pretty lightweight. They’re not as nice as a scroll frame though.
