Embroidery hoops are the first frames any stitcher gets but they have a few draw backs; they’re heavy, you can’t hold your aida in them when not working on it and they don’t accommodate larger stitches very well. Scroll frames solve all of these problems and are the go to frame for anyone moving on from a hoop.
Another alternative is a bar frame; these come in sets of 4 to 6 inch bars that clip together so you can expand them to accommodate your stitching, and they’re also pretty lightweight. They’re not as nice as a scroll frame though.
