Hattingen is part of the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Historische Stadtkerne in Nordrhein-Westfalen” and Blankenstein joins it in 1992. It has a rich history and a number of historic districts, including the Reshop-Carre.
History of Hattingen
Hattingen is a city with a rich history. It has many well-preserved half-timbered houses and is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Its historic old town is a must-see, and it is worth visiting at any time of the year. The winding streets and romantic architecture make this a great place to explore, especially when it is quiet.
In 1486, Count Dietrich von der Mark gave Hattingen municipal law and the right to fortify the town with walls. This was a significant step in the evolution of Hattingen into a prosperous medieval city. It also gained the privileges to hold weekly markets and fairs.
During the Nazi era, Hattingen was affected in the same way as the rest of Germany. Opponents of the regime were intimidated, suppressed and terminated. In addition, the city’s Jewish community was dismantled and reconstructed in the so-called “Henrichshutte”. In 1945, Hattingen was part of the Ruhr district and merged with the communities of Blankenstein, Buchholz, Holthausen and Welpere. Communal reorganisation in the 1960s brought about a new, bigger city.
Taxation
In many countries, individuals and businesses must fill out a tax return each year. This document calculates the taxpayer’s income and the amount of taxes they must pay. It also helps them determine if they should get a refund. It is usually filed with the country’s tax collecting agency, such as the Internal Revenue Service in the United States or Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs in the United Kingdom.
A tax schedule is a form that lists all the additional calculations and amounts stated in a tax return. These may include property, mortgage interest or charitable donations. In the United States, a tax schedule is sometimes referred to as a tax worksheet.
The IdNo allows tax administration employees to clearly identify each individual based on their tax data, regardless of where they live or work in Germany. Currently, minor deviations in the spelling of names or other data fields often make unambiguous identification impossible. This new system will eliminate these problems and allow for a more accurate identification of taxpayers.
Individual tax
Individual taxpayers are taxed on their worldwide income, while non-resident individuals are taxed only on German source income (usually by means of withholding). Net income is calculated as gross income reduced by income related expenses in the following seven categories: capital investment, wages and salaries, employment income, pensions and annuities, property income, other income and consumption taxes. Losses from one of the income categories can be fully offset against positive earnings in another category.
